The problem with this argument, in my opinion, is that the firstpremise is false. A state can have laws even if no one is morallyobliged to obey them. There can be immoral laws, in my opinion. We willhave a fuller, er, more complete, discussion of this next week when weread Hart on the connection between law and morality.
